A horse stuck in a dumpster was rescued by firefighters in Huntington Beach on Friday.

The accident apparently happened when the horse climbed up onto a platform next to the dumpster at the Goldenwest Stables near the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center and fell in, ABC7 reported.

Huntington Beach Firefighters and the Orange County Fire Authority Heavy Rescue Team came up with a plan to haul the animal out of the small garbage bin.

The heavy rescue team put together a harness and used a forklift to get the horse out.

A large-animal veterinarian tranquilized the horse to help the rescue go more smoothly.

The horse had only minor injuries and no rescuers were hurt, the Huntington Beach Fire Department announced on Facebook.
