Stop Xubuntu, Ubuntu, Mint from turning off your screen/s. "Blank screen when the computer goes idle"
You should be able to do this in "Power Management". But for some reason sometimes it just does not work!

Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xset s off && xset -dpms
To check and make sure DPMS is Disabled:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xset -q
To set it permanently on a reboot edit the .profile file in the Home folder.

Just right click "Open with" and choose a text editor I used "Mousepad".
Add this to the bottom of the file: (at least one space below the last line in the file)
# Disable blank screen
xset s off && xset -dpms
If you want to disable it during a current session:
xset s on && xset -dpms
I you want to disable it permanently either delete the lines you added to the .profile or just add a # like this.
# Disable blank screen
# xset s off && xset -dpms
Then remove the # to turn in back on any time in the future.

RTC in local TZ: yes
Warning: The system is configured to read the RTC time in the local time zone.
This mode cannot be fully supported. It will create various problems
with time zone changes and daylight saving time adjustments. The RTC
time is never updated, it relies on external facilities to maintain it.
If at all possible, use RTC in UTC by calling
'timedatectl set-local-rtc 0'.
To set the time back to automatic update:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: timedatectl set-local-rtc 0

Fix the time problem in Windows instead of Linux. (Why fix it in Linux when Windows is the one with the problem!)
~~~MAKE SURE YOUR BIOS IS SET IN UTC TIME~~~Run regedit in the run box to open the registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation
Right click and add a new DWORD 32 bit value.
Name your new value RealTimeIsUniversal
Double-click the "RealTimeIsUniversal" value you just created, set is value data to 1, and click “OK”.
That won't stop Windows from messing up the time but you are almost there.\
Now open a "COMMAND PROMPT" (Dos window) right click run as admin.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sc config w32time start= disabled
That should disable the windows time service from changing your bios time.
And changing back to local time on shut down or restart.
Fix the Mouse speed in Ubuntu, Xubuntu 18.04, 20.04 and Mint 19.3
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput list
Once you know the ID "9", "11", "12" which ever number it show you on your system.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput list-props (DEVICE ID NUMBER)
Then look for a line like this:
libinput Accel Speed (299): -0.960000 (The numbers 299 and -0.960000 may be different on each mouse)
Then try setting different speeds until you find one that works for you.
REMEMBER EACH TIME YOU ADD OR REMOVE A USB DEVICE THE "299" NUMBER WILL CHANGE.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.5
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.6
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.7
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.8
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.9
You need to change the 12 with your mouse ID, and the 299 with your "Accel Speed" property number.
I found -0.5 to -0.7 to work best for me, but you might want to set it to something different.
To make this change permanent after reboot, you will need to run that command automatically at startup.
Ubuntu, Xubuntu and Mint you can do this in "Settings -> Session and Startup -> Application Autostart -> "Add"
Then fill in the full xinput command "xinput set-prop 12 299 -0.7" as command, give it a name and description.
then just click the app and install. If you are using another drive or partition as I do make sure to set that as the default
game install location in Lutris then just check each install. If you're installing Windows games they will create a "wine"
folder under the Lutris folder you set. In my case File System/Media/Steam/Lutris/Games/battlenet (Steam is the name of my game partition ext4)
Install Epic Games for Windows (Runs in wine must be a new install for each game. Not worth the time in my opinon just use Steam)
https://lutris.net/games/epic-games-store/
Install Steam on Ubuntu, Xubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 20.04 and Mint 19.3
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt purge steam (Only if you upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04)
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo rm ~/.steam if that doesn't work go to home/username/.steam (Only if you upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04 - delete .steam folder)
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo add-apt-repository multiverse
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install steam
After install type steam into the terminal window to start it the first time it will update and restart once or twice.
Then log into steam all is good.
Now Steam should be on the game menu.
But if you watch Netflix, Netflix will not play in Chromium. Amazon Prime plays no problem but no go on NetFlix.
Netflix will suggest the MALWARE browser google-chrome which is Chromium based.
But google add's tons of tracking, bloatware, data-mining to google chrome so it's VERY SLOW!
Brave and Firefox are both Chromium based but both play Netflix, Amazon, Hulu in Linux.
Brave normally having the better picture.
The best browsers in Linux.
2. Slimjet very fast also, glitches twitter gifs. - Amazon Prime, the fastest browser made for downloaing anything.
(Download 4 gigs TEN TIMES faster then any other browser.) Install mp4 player sudo cp libffmpeg.so /opt/slimjet/
3. Brave glitches a few sites. - Plays Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu by far the best picture and work 98% of the time.
(SAFEST BROWSER MADE you can block 99.9% of all the tracking and data-mining.)
4. Firefox the slowest one in Linux. - Plays Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu with a pretty good picture and works 100% of the time.
You can fix it by using only a HDMI cable. I skipped 430 and went from "418" to "440" because I use three monitors only have one HDMI port.
My card is all Display Ports with one old school HDMI port.
At this point you can open the "Software & Updates" go to "Additional Drivers" and select the driver you want to install.
Or to continue in terminal.
3. FOR AUTO INSTALL - Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
4. To choose your driver - Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt install nvidia-440 (where you see 440 add the version you want to use)
Restart the system.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
Install open source drivers.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install nvidia-440
Remove Nvidia
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get remove -purge nvidia
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get remove -purge nvidia-*
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get -s purge 'nvidia-*'
Install Xorg
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get update
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install xauth
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install xorg
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install xorg openbox
Edit Xorg
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (MAKE A BACK-UP)
OverClock Nvidia Cards
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28 --allow-empty-initial-configuration
(You can run this with other coolbits settings, 31 is also used ONLY USE HIGHER NUMBERS FOR MORE THEN ONE VIDEO CARD).
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig --cool-bits=4 (THIS IS ALL YOU NEED FOR ONLY ONE CARD)
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28
REBOOT
Fan control and overclocking is now enabled.
If you want the settings to AutoStart.
You will need to create a startup sh file for each GPU so the overclocks and fan speed are loaded when you log in.
Create some empty documents on Ubuntu Desktop and call them whatever you like. Make sure the filename has .sh at the end.
Copy & Paste this in a text editor:
!/bin/bash
nvidia-settings -a '[gpu:0]/GPUGraphicsMemoryOffset[3]=100'
nvidia-settings -a '[gpu:0]/GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset[3]=100'
nvidia-settings -a '[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1'
nvidia-settings -a '[fan:0]/GPUTargetFanSpeed=80'
Amend the clocks (GPU and Memory) and fan speeds to whatever you're comfortable with.
Make separate documents for each GPU by changing the numbers for each card.
Save and open properties and make each file "executable".
Go to Startup Applications and ADD each .sh to the programs you run when you log in.
Problems setting nvidia-xconfig for multi-GPU rigs try this work-around
Firstly, log in and enable overclocking on one GPU:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28 (28 when you have more then one card)
Log out and then log back in, then enable overclocking on all the other identical GPUs:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28 --allow-empty-initial-configuration
Then log out and log back in and all the GPUs will have overclocking and fan control enabled.
Install Amd drivers to be honest I have never gotten any AMD card to work well in Linux.
Mesa Drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get update
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get install mesa-va-drivers
Remove Mesa Drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get remove mesa-va-drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mesa-va-drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get purge mesa-va-drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mesa-va-drivers
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt update
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt dist-upgrade (NO if you want to keep 16.04.2)
Check version of Mesa
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"
Fan speed:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: echo 185 > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon1/pwm1
Any number from 1 to 254 I think is a valid fan speed
Check card:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: lspci -k | grep -EA2 'VGA|2D'
Check drivers:
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: dpkg -l amd-pro
Install downloaded drivers.
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: cd ~/Downloads
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: tar -Jxvf amdgpu-pro-18.10-NNNNNN.tar.xz
Enter the directory where the downloaded archive was extracted (this is expected to be the same name as the archive file).
Type or copy and paste this hit enter: cd ~/Downloads/amdgpu-pro-18.20
